Tukka Takana / So Always Fresh Music Video
The music video for the new single “So Always Fresh” (or if you’re Finnish, you’ll probably say “Tukka takana”). I’ve directed over 300 music videos in my career, but for some reason I put incredible mental blocks around this project beforehand. Only after working closely with many amazing artists this year, I got the vision and perspective to put this video together in a way that really feels right. It’s music that comes naturally from the heart, so I needed to go there with the video. Just let loose, feel free and apply some real shit into it.
I initially shot the main parts to the video right after we finished the song. Then, throughout the year, I’d capture some strange cool stuff on my phone that didn’t feel like they had a place to go, but felt like I needed to film it. Just me dancing my joyful rave-dance that I’ve been doing since I was 12-13 years old in various places like various areas in SoCal, Texas and Arkansas. I hope I’m able to convey also visually, the pure joy this project has given me.
The video has so many layers because I tried a 100 approaches before I just landed into what I would say a visual expression that is closest to what goes on in my brain and what I see when I create my own musical projects: a mashup of vibes, ideas, moments and energy.
Needless to say, I did not pay a cent to make this video. We literally pulled up the street and started filming. No matter if it was a shitty iPhone, an Arri Alexa Mini or my old Sony A7Smk2 (yep, 10+ years old).
I was also inspired to create some merch around this song. Check out these items from my merch store.
